Timmy Mallett once used the toilets of the Mermaid cafe! But empty seats attract empty people, in a city where everyone is constantly searching for their someone. What is it to be lonely? What's behind the pasta promises and facebook facade? Window seat madam? Take Table 23!!
'Table 23' is set in the humdrum yet monotone life of a backstreet Italian restaurant in London, and takes a look at people passing through. Seen through the eyes of one lonely man, the lives of his fellow others appear mesmerising and spectacular, a far cry from his own. But who can define loneliness? The stories are told through a mish mash of physical and visual work, incorporating elements of clowning, puppetry and acrobats, fused with moments of truth, honesty, and vulnerability.

‘TRANSACTION' Three disillusioned investment bankers make off with government money. It's simple…until dying pimps, doppelgangers and philosophical sheep get involved. The Italian Job set in Iraq, with a sheep playing Michael Caine. “One of this year's star turns” (2006). The Absurdity of Vanilla. Playful tale of social conditioning. Why do Britons like missionary more than any other sexual position? Why turn down a choc-chip sundae for a vanilla scoop and drooping wafer? “One of this year's star turns” (2006).

Cure - Theatre
by Struck Dumb Theatre Company
Monday 21st July - Wednesday 23rd July, 8pm - £10/£6
(£8/£6 in advance)
Finding the cure for cancer- every scientist's dream. But with everyone hungry for the cure, will the dream become a nightmare?
Suicide is out. Sacrifice is in. They said the secret to man's survival lay within usuall- we just didn't know they meant it literally.
With every Shylock after his pound of flesh and the NHS after the offcuts, no one is safe from becoming a donor. Taking a sideways glance at everything from cannibalism to the National Health Service, Cure is a blackly comic social satire, delving into a shadowy underworld where nothing is what it seems. Stark, sexy, satirical, combining live music with punchy dialogue, Struck Dumb bring their own electric brand of theatre to the Edinburgh Fringe.
They say you are what you eat- so why is everyone still dying?

Alex Routeledge

Saturday 23 rd August, 7.30pm -£5
Alex Routledge is a classical pianist with a difference. Having formerly played his trade with numerous pop and rock bancs, the musician has re-invented himself as a classical pianist.
Alex returns to The Space with his trademark edgy, provactive jazz tunage, coupled with new material from his 'Falling Forwards' EP that showcases an epic and sonorous side to his classical offerings.
His live appearances are breathtaking, combining dexterous and intricate musical passages with jazz-infused chords, at times blurring the lines between romantic period classical music and modern day jazz. Listeners can expect renditions of masterpieces by Chopin and Beethoven, classical reinterpretations of songs by Radiohead as well as the artist's own genre-defying compositions.
In the run-up to this concert, Alex will be broadcasting his own exclusive weekly classical music podcast, featuring rare tracks and interviews. For more information, please visit the website at http://www.alexroutledge.co.uk

Improv's Dog are the greatest thing in improvised comedy since sliced bread...making stuff up...in the bread bin. Don't believe us? Good. We're lying. It's better than that...It's like a spontaneous version of Kylie Minogue's bottom. If you're new to improv, that's a good thing. If you're an old hand then you'll see all of your favourite games plus some you might have never seen, for they lurk in the shadows of the draw you never use that only seems to have in it old phone chargers and your one, black tie.
We don't know what'll happen and neither do you. That's the point. That's the fun. In fact, we've even improvised this blurb. Top
