Past Events

The Space is a modern multi purpose arts centre set in a delightful and architecturally significant 19th century Presbyterian church. Attached to the building is the Hubbub bar/ restaurant who can provide a full range of catering services. It provides an excellent and adaptable venue for a wide range of business and social activities. If you want a location with character and the support of a friendly, expert in house team, then the Space is for you.

An £800,000 complete restoration of our Grade II listed building was carried out in 1996 combining the best of the building's distinctive features with the introduction of modern facilities. There is even a Steinway concert grand piano which disappears beneath the stage.

The Space can provide a formal or relaxed setting for your business conferences or meetings.

Facilities and Services

Past Events

There are many opportunities for lighting and production within the Space, to create a stylish atmosphere for your event in keeping with the surroundings. Audio-visual equipment can be installed for receptions, parties or presentations. Please feel free to contact our recommended suppliers (on page 5 of this information pack) to meet all your requirements in terms of sound, lighting, staging and dressing.

• Sound: PA provided with two Shure SM58 microphones

• Equaliser, 2 wall mounted speakers, minidisk player, CD player, tape deck, mixing desk (free hire)

• Lighting: GSX Strand Golfball desk 24 channel computerised desk - 7 x fresnels, 8 x profiles currently working (free hire)

• Blackout: Motorised blinds activated in 45 seconds (free hire)

• Video Projector - a one off hire fee of £20

• Piano: Steinway "B" concert Grand - can be hired at £50 per event

Disabled Access

Flat access to all entrances, guide dogs welcome. The entrance doors are 1100 mm wide. There is level access from the pavement and a cobbled area in the courtyard. There is flat access to all levels and an accessible lift, 880mm wide and 1230mm deep.

There is a number of ways of getting to The Space:

Bus

D7, N50, D3 from Canary Wharf. The bus stop outside the Space is called Windmill House.

135 From Old Street via Canary Wharf to Windmill house

Tube
Mudchute DLR

Turn right exiting the station, then right into Spindrift Avenue until you reach Westferry Road. The Space is 150 yards on your right.
River
Masthouse Terrace Pier

The pier is accessible for a person using a wheelchair and about 230 metres from the Space.
Car Parking

There are spaces for six cars. After 6.00 p.m. street parking is free.
